She has committed supporter that are madly angry at how Barack Obama got away with so many things - from Race to Wright, down to lack of leadership experience. Her committed supporters are primarily women, who probably sums to over 30% of Democratic voting block. Among those, about 20% will go wherever she goes. Women do not play politics over love and belief as men. She is also undebiably favored in many key states needed by democrats to win.
On the other hand, she has committed enemies also- who also range from her former husband's former buddies to fellow senate ranking mambers. Most of these haters and ranking members (Washington politicians) are not trusted. She also faces a mountain of black voters in the democratic party that never voted in the past until a black man showed up on the front page of the ballot. So far, this group is her only wories. She also has haters among some fellow ladies who are either jealous of her or just cannot stand her guts. Some of them hate her for no reason.
But hate her or criticize her, Hillary is an icon. She has weight. Her probable or possible loss in this election is a matter of race...short and simple. Her agenda is the same as Obama's. Everyone in the democratic and republican party knows that she is better qualified and ready to lead a struggling nation, if voted into office. Even those that hate her guts, admits that. Why is she hated then? It depends on who you ask. She is hated by republicans because of her husband- not her fault. She is just a strong woman that most men would like to have as a wife but are afraid to stand close to as professional partner. She is hawkish and smart and knows how to play with and without the rules. She can handle herself and her man and still keep secrets. When you see her, you see one of the best presidents that America may never have. Isn't it what we all pray for in a woman?
Then if you ask the democrats, the story is quite different. Hillary would have been the toast of their party if Obama (young black man- not Al or Jesse...) did not show up in the ballot. The issue that poured sand into Hilliary's bid is that the democrats wanted to please African Americans by putting all their muscles behind Obama. Most of them are afriad of a Bill & Hillary dynasty, including those that were spoon fed by Bill Clinton when he raised millions of dollars for their ;ocal campaign. No one can dispute the importance of Bill Clinton in the democratic party and how many people he put in office as president. But the democrats are playing games with republicans --wants to use Obama to make strong their claim that it is a black favored party. And the republicans have been very dumb and silly so far to even sing praises for Obama at their own demise. It seems to me like our senses as republicans have left us.
But as we thread towards the end of democratic nomination the tide is about to change. Haven been abandoned and injured by the party that she and her husband helped to resurrect from slumber, Hillary may have just very little to loose when she takes her loyals to a different party. The number is around 25% of the voters in key states. If and when she does so, she will be going back to the senate with Obama in November. As at this time, whether she goes back to the senate as democrat or independent, the adjustment task ahead of her is the same. Rumor is leaking that she plans to break away from the party that she was ones a darling. Many of us will support her...so also are lots of women.
She understands that there is no lasting relationship in Washington. She knows too well that people will still come around her to thank her for not letting go. Hillary represents a lot of women. She knows she will be hated even more for doing so. But the fact is that she has never been fully loved anyway.. What else is there to lose? He that is down need fear no fall...Hillary is about to give us the greatest shock. Not that many people will blame her when she states her reason. At least, the republicans wil not. John McCain will be smiling into the Whitehouse.
In the end, America (democrats blacks and the hating whites) will forget what she did in 2008 and remember her ffor her works-both good and bad. W e will attend her funerals and assign a full week media coverage to a former first lady and a sweet heart senator from New York who ran a string bid for Whitehouse. The rest will be history.
Aren't we all going to be remembered the same way?
I hope the democrats are ready.....
